Congratulations to Amanda Brannan and Tim Kutcher, the 2015 winners of the John Carroll School's Black and Gold Awards!
The Black and Gold Award is presented to one male and one female student in the graduating class who best exemplify all-around excellence. The award is considered the highest honor a senior can receive. These students embody the school’s mission and philosophy.
Amanda was the Junior and Senior Class Vice President, a Student Ambassador, and a member of the SAC. She was a part of the Athletic Leadership Group, John Carroll Honor Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, John Carroll Patriot Hospitality Group, and the Romero Club. She earned varsity letters in Swimming, Field Hockey and Softball. She has been on the Honor Roll all four years and for the last two years she has been a member of the Spanish Honor Society.
In addition, Amanda has given her community countless hours of service, including raising over $60,000 for Brest Cancer Research. She has already won the Comcast Leaders and Acheivers Scholarship this year, and will be attending Niagra University in the fall.
Tim has served on the SAC for three years as well as participated in the Spanish Exchange Program for three years. He is a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, the National Honor Society, and the Athletic Leadership Group. He has been highly recognized this year for being a four-year varsity starter on the Baseball Team and for playing Volleyball for four years. Tim won the Al Cesky Scholarship Award this year, and performed in both the Senior Variety Show and the Senior Fashion Show. In addition to many notable academic and service awards, he was named “Most Likely to Succeed” in the Senior Superlatives (and what could be more important than that?). Amanda wrote a lovely note to her teachers that encapsulates what we love most about John Carroll:
