John Carroll is pleased to announce Ms. Caroline Haggerty ‘13 has been named Varsity Field Hockey head coach for the fall 2021 season. In addition, Haggerty, who has worked as John Carroll’s Admissions Marketing Coordinator since 2019, will also be transitioning to a new role with the school as Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, effective immediately.
A 2013 alumna of John Carroll, Haggerty played both field hockey and lacrosse during her high school career. After graduating, she played four years of Division I Lacrosse at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, graduating with a degree in Communications, and served as National Director of the Tenacity Project, a non-profit lacrosse organization that works to prepare young women for continued success on and off the field. She is also an assistant coach with John Carroll’s Varsity Girls Lacrosse program and serves as Elementary and Middle School Director for Elite Lacrosse Club.
JC's Director of Marketing and Communications Kathy Walsh announced the promotion in conjunction with the news of Haggerty securing her new coaching position and says both are well-deserved. “Since joining the John Carroll team, Caroline has made an immediate impact through both her communications acumen and her ability to connect with students, parents and alumni alike. She is a tremendous asset to the school and in her new roles, will model our core values both on and off the field.”
“Coach Caroline,” as she is affectionately known, credits sports for helping her become the person she is today by instilling the concepts of teamwork, leadership and hard work. She says, “It is my goal to create an environment where all girls feel valued and respected and are excited to come out to practice every day ready to work. Our team will challenge each other, have each other’s backs, and be good examples of what it means to be a Patriot.” She adds “I look forward to a great season and establishing a strong team culture and work ethic. The girls are the reason I love coaching, and I cannot wait to get started!”
