On Saturday, March 12, John Carroll’s Envirothon Team (Edward Benner, Caleb Olsen, Mary Olsen, Erica Deyesu, and Elizabeth Butz) competed against 11 other Harford County high schools in the first part of the Harford County Envirothon competition. The team made a presentation on the environmental problems caused by invasive species (like zebra mussels and Japanese stiltgrass) and how we can prevent more invasive species from coming into the Mid-Atlantic region. John Carroll’s team placed fourth out of 12 teams. The rest of the Envirothon competition will be held at the end of April at the Harford Glen Environmental Education Center, and an overall winner will be determined at that time.
