For the fifth year, John Carroll School Art teacher Michael Gaudreau has shown his art work in the Corscaden Gallery in Keene Valley, New York. Deep in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, Keene Valley has been a destination for painters for over 100 years, including Winslow Homer, probably the most famous. Martha Corscaden, owner of the gallery, discovered Mr. Gaudreau's work in a community art show. The painting entitled "Dog Days" (below) was picked for the show's poster this year. Mr. Gaudreau recalls: "Every morning at dawn in Keene Valley I get up and walk Maggie, my Irish Setter, and look for subjects to paint. The sun comes up over Giant Mountain at 7 a.m. and sends wonderful light through the town. The white house I've painted many times is right behind my B & B. One morning their little dog was outside. I have twenty pieces in the show this summer. I know how our AP Studio students feel when they do their 'concentration.' Art teachers do the same thing."
