Interested in furthering your dance education without compromising your high school social or academic experience? The College Preparatory Dance Program at The John Carroll School offers superb conservatory level training in an academic setting. Included in the John Carroll tuition, the dance program offers instruction from 3-4:30 p.m., 5 days a week with Ballet/Pointe classes held Mon/Wed/Fri, and Contemporary/Modern/Composition classes held Tues/Thurs. Students will receive academic credit for the classes as well as recognition through performance opportunities, and the opportunity to be inducted into the National Dance Honor Society.
Laura Ward-Moran, dance educator for the program and former owner of Maryland School of Ballet & Modern Dance, has an extensive background in dance and education having been instrumental in training students in preparation for dance beyond high school many of whom have gone on to prestigious college and universities. “This program will provide an environment that supports and recognizes the amount of dedication, stamina, and passion it takes to pursue dance,” she said. “The strong technical training of the program will further your talent and prepare you for dance at the College/University level. There simply is no other private high school program like it.”
An information session for current students about the program will be held on Thursday, November 17, during lunch mods, in the band room. All interested parents and students are invited to an information session about the program on Monday, November 28th at 7 p.m., in the Brown Room. Auditions into the College Preparatory Dance Program will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017.
