On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, the John Carroll men’s cross country teams took first place in the MIAA B Conference Championships. Varsity and Junior Varsity both capped off undefeated, 7-0 seasons. The dual championship wins come after two years of runner-up finishes for both Varsity and Junior Varsity.
Led by a 1,2,3 finish of Elie Fraiji, Jake Gottschalk and Chris Walker, along with Sam Cotton in 6th and Jack Stannard in 9th the Patriot Junior Varsity team finished well ahead of runner-up Severn.
On the Varsity side, junior Alexander Kirkland finished second overall, followed by Ben Sullivan (6th), Cam Mezzatesta (9th), Connor Ferrara (11th), James Gillam (15th) and Michael Chipi (18th) to give the Patriots the win over Severn 48 to 43. Both championships mark the first time since 1989 that the Patriot men have taken a cross country title.
