Warm greetings to all! I am writing to make you aware of a significant administrative change that will be taking place within the school at the conclusion of the current school year.
For the past twelve years, Larry Dukes has successfully guided the John Carroll athletic program to regional and national prominence. He has provided a positive influence for thousands of our student athletes, helping lead them to championship seasons, an appreciation for collaboration and team spirit, and a strong sense of personal achievement.
At the end of the current school year, Larry will be stepping down as Athletic Director, and stepping up to lead a new and very exciting curricular initiative at John Carroll. For several years, we have been considering ways in which students could be offered educational opportunities within the areas of financial literacy, entrepreneurialism, and related career paths. The discussions will come to fruition beginning next year, as we introduce the Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurial Exploration (FLEX) program. With this program, John Carroll will be joining an elite group of forward-thinking schools that are expanding their curricula to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit, and provide meaningful real-life experience. Larry's wisdom and success in his personal business ventures will help FLEX students make the most of their education at John Carroll.
The opening for a new Athletic Director has been posted. We are convening a broad-based search committee, and accepting applications from highly qualified candidates on a national level. I hope to announce an appointment by early February, and the new A.D. will begin his or her tenure on July 1, 2015.
We welcome the names of any potential candidates you would like to suggest for this key role. Please join us in expressing gratitude throughout the school year to Larry for his dedication and service.
Thank you,
RJO
