The John Carroll Robotics teams competed in the Maryland VEX States Robotics Championship on Saturday, March 7. These competitions consisted of 2 types of events: John Carroll's "A" team, Sarah Xiang '20 and Jason Yan '21 participated in the finals round of their division while the "B" team, Robert Wilson '21 and Gavin Bogdan '21 made it to the semifinals in their division. The "A" team came in first as Skills Champion with a score of 164. The programming score placed them first in the United States and third in the World! The "B" team ranked 17th in the state with a score of 36, a good showing for a first year team. The "A" team also won the “Excellence Award,” the highest award in the VEX Robotics Competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high quality VEX Robotics program and a strong contender in numerous award categories.
