Art Creates Community at Annie's Playground
On Saturday, April 14th, over 100 John Carroll students, faculty and parents participated in an effort to restore the original artwork at Annie’s Playground in Fallston. Amid a month of unseasonably cold and wet weather, this bright and sunny day was truly a gift. Many volunteers stayed well into the evening to finish the work that they had started very early that morning, exhibiting tremendous commitment and compassion. Paul Cashour, former JC history teacher, and his wife, Mary (parents of Karen Everett '93) refused to leave until the details of their mural were perfect! One student recalled her memories of the playground as a child, and how much it meant to be able to come back and revitalize the area for the next generation. The most touching moment, however, was the unveiling to Annies’ father, Tom Cumpston, who said that the students had “truly brought the playground back to life.” Many, many thanks to all for a truly memorable day!
