John Carroll seniors Argirios Stakias and Anthony Magwood are spreading the Christmas spirit all the way up to New York as they deliver a check for $5,015 and 17 containers full of donated items to the disadvantaged children at St. Basil Academy. The two students surpassed their $4,000 goal thanks in part to the generosity of the John Carroll community. They raised the money through a dress down day and loose change collections at John Carroll and Stakias' Greek Orthodox parish. The 17 containers of items include toiletries, school supplies, clothing, and toys. The items will be greatly appreciated by the students of St. Basil Academy, which serves, houses, and educates children who are orphaned, have chronically ill or destitute parents, or are from broken homes.
This act of kindness is part of the Senior Project of Stakias and Magwood. After delivering the money and items, they plan to make a video to raise awareness for disadvantaged youth and St. Basil Academy.
