To All Members of the John Carroll School Community,
We often say that while Jesus Christ and His teachings are at the center of our school's life, the Lord certainly gave us a remarkable namesake and role model in the person of Archbishop John Carroll: faith-filled man of God, scholar and educator, and citizen-patriot-statesman during the founding years of the United States.
The first Catholic bishop and archbishop in America passed into history and eternal glory on December 3, 1815. He was eulogized by a Baltimore newspaper at the time as being “compelling, considerate, and uncompromising.” This coming Sunday, December 6, we all have a special opportunity to honor John Carroll by attending Mass said by Archbishop Lori in the Baltimore Basilica, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of his predecessor's death. Mass will begin at 10:45 a.m. All are warmly invited.
Thanks and continued blessings to you and your family.
Richard J. O’Hara
President
