The illustrious Mr. Robert Schick and the John Carroll Academic Team have already had a pretty exciting year, and this April everyone can see what they've been up to.
Win or lose, we're always proud of our Academic Team. And even after to failing to advance to the semifinals on It’s Academic Saturday (final score: Howard 555, Frederick 505, JC 385), there’s a lot to like about our kids and the support they received from the John Carroll community.
The show will air on April 4. If you tune in to WJZ-TV at 10 that morning, you’ll see:
- Justin Hawkins, Kathy Deaver, and Will Smith winning the Buzzer Round (where, if you get all your answers right, they “drop balloons and make a big fuss”)
- J-Hawk, Kathy, and Will being charming and personable during the “tell us a little about yourself” portion
- JC cheerleaders Becca DiRocco, Hailey Schilling, Emily Navarro, and Erin Paradiso rooting on our team (many thanks to coaches Lindsey Withrow and Dawn Hoderfield, plus supermom Dawn DiRocco, for bringing the girls to TV Hill)
- Our Pep Band showing their support by belting out “Seven Nation Army” (a big Thank You to Austin Kiss, Connor Kiss, Jonathan Kaufman, Anna Smith, Michael Sanphillipo, and Eric Johnson, plus Marc Bolden, for devoting their Saturday to the cause)
- Patriot mascot Katy Sharretts “doing battle” with the Howard HS Lion mascot (a battle clearly won by Katy)
- Madelyn making another on-air appearance in support of the Neutrinos (thank you!)
- Audience shots that included Claudia Reyerson and Regina Ferry cheering on the team (thank you, too!)
- Our alternate player Annalee Gabler, plus fellow Neutrinos Lauren Wenig, Nicole Iorio, Eric Wright, and Drew Forthman pulling for us
- Plus lots of family members rooting us on!
