Our own Mr. Robert Schick provides us with a quick update on last week's bout of genius by the John Carroll School's speech and debate team:
Neither snow nor freezing rain nor wintry mix stays the Speech Creatures from their appointed rounds.
We are proud to announce the results from last Thursday night’s meet at Harford Tech, where thirteen John Carroll students entered a total of thirteen events, winning seven ribbons.
- Freshman Drew Forthman took First Place in Poetry, and First Place in Declamation.
- Freshman Grace Hollin took Second Place in Declamation.
- The team of Billy Jump, Grace Hollin, Annalee Gabler, and freshman Taylor Bynion won Second Place in Readers Theater.
- Taylor Bynion also grabbed Second Place in Dramatic Interpretation.
- Matt Burdeshaw captured Third Place in Lincoln/Douglas Debate.
- Beni Tasel won Third Place in Original Oratory.
- Also participating in tonight’s meet were Eric Wright, Parker Day, Kishan Patel, Faith Ensor, Matt Becker, and Seho Kim.
The next Speech and Debate tournament will be held on Thursday, February 12, here at John Carroll.
