We are excited to be able to announce that the project to install two, synthetic turf fields on the JCS campus is well underway. These new fields will replace the natural grass that has been in place on the Women’s Varsity Field and Gerry Gray Memorial Stadium and will enhance our overall athletic complex and provide the very best playing surfaces in the area for our student-athletes.
- The relocation of the Town’s sewer line has been completed
- Additional sewer lines for the school use have been re-linedEach field will support multiple sports and have a combination of permanent lines (3 each) and the capability to have other lines painted on for temporary use. The Women’s Varsity Field will contain Women’s Lacrosse, Field Hockey and Soccer and be able to support Men’s Lacrosse, as needed. The Stadium Field will be lined for Football, Men’s Lacrosse and Soccer and be able to support Women’s Lacrosse and Field Hockey, as needed.
Through Wednesday, November 5th, these are some of the highlights from the project:
- The relocation of the Town’s sewer line has been completed
- Additional sewer lines for the school use have been re-lined
- Sediment controls and safety fencing has been installed
- Multiple underground utility structures have been installed
- Grading operations have begun on both fields
The next primary steps will include:
- The installation of filtration liners, drainage trenches and piping
- Stone sub-base for the synthetic turf
- Installation of the actual turf material
If the weather remains favorable, the project is slated to be completed just prior to Christmas.
