On Saturday, March 1st, nineteen John Carroll students were able to compete in the Maryland Science Olympiad regional tournament held at the University of Maryland, College Park. The nineteen students made up two teams and competed in 20 different events in science covering through Biology, Physical Science, Earth and Space Sciences, and Technology. Three events placed 3rd: Cole Alban and Adam Beard in Chem Lab, Andrew Beard and Fred Zhang in Technical Problem Solving, and Gloria Qiao and Sunny Zhou for the Elastic Launch Glider.
Students did a wonderful job preparing and competing. A team of 15 students will advance to the Maryland State Finals on Saturday, March 29th at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. I am very proud of our first teams’ accomplishments and look forward to the finals at the end of the month!
