Xavia Borys Pirozzi Photography Award – Aidan Kintz '22
The Xavia Borys Pirozzi Photography Award was created by the Pirozzi family in memory of Xavia ‘14, a member of the National Art Honor Society and passionate photographer, and recognizes a deserving student who demonstrates an interest and excellence in creative photography.
Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society Award – Chance Woosley '22
The Chesapeake Chapter of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society gives an award to juniors in Harford County high schools to recognize outstanding science and math students.
Jim Chrismer Excellence in the Study of U.S. History Award – Ryan Fabriziani '22
The Jim Chrismer Excellence in US History Award seeks to honor the work of long time John Carroll teacher Mr. James E. Chrismer. Each year a student from the junior class is recognized who demonstrates a firm interest in and an excellence in the study of US History.
Annie McGann Cumpston Memorial Award - Ella McGuire '24, Chloe Davies '23, Olivia Lockett '22
The Annie McGann Cumpston Memorial Scholarship was created in May 2003 by family members in memory of Annie McGann Cumpston, daughter of Tom and Megan McGann Cumpston ‘82. Annie’s loving and generous spirit inspired this scholarship and the scholarship is meant to recognize and celebrate the loving and generous spirit in John Carroll students.
Laura Pelligrini Award - Blair Mergerian '22
The Laura Pellegrini award is named in memory of former French teacher and parent, Laura Pellegrini. The award is given to a junior who excels in the French language and demonstrates love of the French language. A stipend is made possible through the Laura Pellegrini Memorial Fund.
Madison Brookshire Memorial Scholarship Award - Laura De Jesus '24 and Annie Willie '24
The Madison Brookshire Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of student, Maddie Brookshire ’24. Always a Patriot at heart, Maddie was excited to follow in her mother’s footsteps by attending The John Carroll School. She loved every minute she had as a John Carroll student, approaching each day with enthusiasm for learning, sharing her warm disposition with teachers and classmates, and making new friends. A thoughtful, kind, giving, and ambitious young woman, Maddie embodied what it means to be a Patriot.
Maddie had big dreams with detailed plans for college and a future career as an orthodontist. To honor her memory, the Madison Brookshire Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a Freshman student with his/her own plans to pursue a career in the health sciences.
The Sister Kathleen Brabson, SSJ Service Award - Kendall Ball '22
The Sister Kathleen Brabson, SSJ Service Award recognizes an underclassman for their commitment to educational service. Qualifying students are required to have completed twenty-five hours of direct service through tutoring, coaching, teaching, or some other form of educational service. Sister Kathleen was a Sister of Saint Joseph for 53 years. The Sisters of Saint Joseph where instrumental in the founding of the John Carroll School. Sister Kathleen worked tirelessly for excellence in Catholic Education, serving as the president of Mount St. Joseph Academy, Philadelphia and for nine years served on the John Carroll School board of trustees and Catholic Mission Committee.
Sports Broadcasting Medal - Noah Miller '23
The Sports Broadcasting Medal is awarded to the students who exemplify creative spirit, technical expertise, and journalistic integrity in their work.
Gerry Gray Memorial Scholarship Award - Tyson Commander '22 and Gabbi Meyer '22
The Gerry Gray Award was established to honor the memory of former teacher and coach Gerry Gray. The scholarship is awarded to a male and female athlete who participate in at least one varsity sport and has demonstrated academic success.
Ed Miller Award - Isabelle Wilson '22
The Ed Miller Award is given to students who display academic achievement in Social Studies and/or World Language and express an interest in pursuing international studies as a career.
Alumni Children's Scholarship - Gianna Houck '22 and Nathan Gostomski '22
The Alumni Children’s Scholarship was established by the John Carroll Alumni Association in the mid-1980’s to honor and promote legacy and provide financial assistance to a legacy student at The John Carroll School. This longstanding scholarship is awarded annually to one male and one female legacy student who exemplify what it means to be a Patriot. The prize is awarded at the end of Junior year. All applicants must have at least one parent who is a John Carroll alum.
2022 National Merit® Scholarship Program - Samantha Ashton '22, Rosalie McGuirk '22, Travis Smith '22, Stephen Snyder '22, Chance Woosley '22
To be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program the student must take the PSAT/NMSQT during his or her junior year of high school, be enrolled as a high school student and plan to enroll in college full time by the fall after his or her high school graduation, and attend high school in the U.S., the District of Columbia, or U.S. commonwealth and territory; or meet citizenship requirements for students attending high school outside the U.S. Approximately 50,000 juniors with the highest PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index scores (or total PSAT scores) who meet the eligibility requirements described above qualify for NMSP recognition. That is, roughly the top 3% of 11th grade testers will qualify.
High Point Junior Scholars Award - Ella Andrychowski '22, Chloe Connolly '22, Zachary Earnest '22, Gabrielle Meyer '22, Sydney Walsh '22
High Point University Junior Scholars are selected based on their unweighted GPA, standardized test scores, and leadership activities. As Junior Scholars, students will receive an initial $2,500 scholarship per year at HPU, totaling $10,000 over four years.
